Information for pregnant women during coronavirus

Because of covid-19, University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) have made some changes to the care you receive to keep you and your baby safe. We know you will be anxious in this difficult time, but we are here to support you. If you have any more questions, please contact your hospital by phone.

Pregnant women with covid-19 will be cared for in a different areas to women who do not have covid-19. This is to stop the spread of infection.

Covid-19 in pregnancy

Pregnant women have the same chance as other women of getting covid-19. You should follow government advice to reduce your chance of getting the virus by washing your hands and staying 2 meters away from other people.

What if I have symptoms of covid-19?

Cough, temperature, feeling out of breath and aching are symptoms of covid-19.

If you have symptoms of Covid-19, you should stay at home and not go outside for 7 days. People you live with should also stay at home for 14 days. overnight will be tested for covid-19.

Can my baby get the virus if I have the virus?

Currently, there is no evidence that your baby can get the virus from being in your womb. All babies born to women who have covid-19 are checked by the baby doctors before going home.
